According to CNN, every cardigan Mr. Rogers wore on the show had been hand knit by his mother.
Just another reason why Mr. Rogers is cooler than you.

True life.
Watched the first show of the 2011-2012 season last night: Ringer on CW starring SMG (pictured above second from right). I’m intrigued. I liked it and want to see more. So far a good start.

What @dannielle said. This kind of wrenched my heart.

“When the show went to No. 1 in December 1988, ABC sent a chocolate “1” to congratulate me. Guess they figured that would keep the fat lady happy—or maybe they thought I hadn’t heard (along with the world) that male stars with No. 1 shows were given Bentleys and Porsches. So me and George Clooney [who played Roseanne Conner’s boss for the first season] took my chocolate prize outside, where I snapped a picture of him hitting it with a baseball bat. I sent that to ABC.”
Marshall, Lorelei Gilmore, and Daniel Faraday are all in a movie together. That takes place in a psychiatric ward. Based on a young-adult coming of age novel.
Basically this movie was made for me.
EW confirmed today that Season 6 DVDs will contain material aimed at answering the lingering mysteries left unanswered by the yet-to-be-seen finale on Sunday. Just another reason to complete the set.
Of course we don’t know entirely what those unanswered mysteries will be yet so there may still be hope for your favorite one.
I’m a few weeks behind on Fringe but just finished this episode from 4/15. This episode alone has everything why I love this show. Great Walter moments. Great Walter/Peter. Great science fiction. And great heart.

David Simon, creator of HBO’s Treme and The Wire arguing for suspension of belief when creating realistic fiction/drama. An interesting quote (and column) to consider when one thinks about the role fiction has in our lives. The credibility we extend to creators and artists when we consume realism. Not to mention when we think about what popular culture artifacts - here, television - can reflect back to ourselves. Also filed under “Why We Shouldn’t Ignore Popular Culture”, NPR ran a story last month featuring a college class which is built around Simon’s The Wire: “Students delve into the social issues raised by The Wire, from the repercussions of legalizing drugs to the impact of lost manufacturing jobs. And they are required to blog about their observations after every episode. [Professor Jason] Mittell is a passionate film and TV watcher. ‘I think most people look at television as escapist, as lowbrow, as consumerist and not something worth in-depth study,’ he says.” Astounding is a complete understatement when describing this show. I finished the series finale and mourned the loss of the characters. Ones which had passed away seasons ago and ones which lived to the end. I’d be surprised if no one can relate to that kind of sadness. Whether it’s from finishing a really good book or loving a show to its end. Do yourself a favor and pick up the first episode of season one and never stop watching. |
